The holidays are upon us and that means lots of fun festivities, usually with a common theme – sweet treats and tasty drinks.
At truecore, we know there has to be a balance during the holiday in order for us to function and feel our best. One of the ways we were we find balance is in finding healthy substitutions for our favorite holiday cocktails.
We’ve found two of our favorite festive, but skinny cocktails recipes to enjoy this holiday season. Remember life is all about finding your balance – eat, drink & be merry, but make sure to make your workouts a priority to keep yourself charged this season.
Cran – Merry Margaritas
If you’re looking for a lively holiday sip this is the drink for you. And if you really want to bring the festive fun blend a pitcher (rather than serving on the rocks) of the cran-merry margarita and a pitcher of traditional margaritas. Pour both drinks alongside one another in a margarita glass just before you serve. That way you’ll get a festive blend of red and green all in one glass.
ingredients
12 cranberries
3oz light cranberry juice
1.5oz Cuervo Authentic Light Margarita
directions
Muddle cranberries. Fill shaker with ice, add cranberry juice and margarita mix. Shake, pour on the rocks, in a margarita glass — enjoy!

Boozy Hot Cocoa — skinny & dairy free
Spiked hot chocolate?! YES PLEASE! You’re going to love this dairy free hot chocolate recipe because it’s spiked with a little bit of amaretto and made with almond milk and sweetened with maple syrup!

ingredients
- 3 cups unsweetened almond milk
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoon maple syrup
- 2-oz. amaretto
instructions
- Place almond milk, cocoa powder, and maple syrup in a small saucepan. Turn heat to high and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 5 minutes.
- Place 1 oz. amaretto at the bottom of two mugs, then pour in hot chocolate.
- Enjoy with some frothed almond milk on top.
